Biography

Junhao Ma is a classical guitarist from Xinjiang, China, currently pursuing his studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under the renowned classical guitarist Meng Su. He has been recognized for his artistry with First Prizes in both the Solo and Ensemble categories of the Qingdao International Guitar Competition, achievements that gave him a strong foundation in both individual performance and collaborative musicianship.

His dedication to the guitar has taken him to international stages. In 2024, he was invited to perform “ En Los Trigales” by Joaquin Rodrigo at the Lifetime Achievement Celebration for renowned guitarist Manuel Barrueco at the Koblenz Guitar Festival, Germany, an event that brought together distinguished guitarists from around the world to honor one of the most influential figures in the instrument’s history.

Junhao has participated in masterclasses with many celebrated guitarists and is an active performer in both solo recitals and chamber music concerts. His repertoire reflects a balance between traditional works of the classical guitar canon and explorations of new music, reflecting his curiosity and openness as an artist. His playing is often noted for its warm tone, lyrical phrasing, and technical clarity, qualities that he continues to refine through study and performance. As he develops his career, Junhao seeks to bring audiences meaningful musical experiences while contributing to the growth of the guitar’s voice in the global concert scene.
